In recent years, there has been rapid progress in downsizing and reducing the weight of effects pedalboards, and at FREE THE TONE, we have been working on downsizing the plugs used for cables. Stereo plugs with one more terminal than mono plugs are difficult to downsize, but we have successfully achieved miniaturization by changing the structure with a new approach. We are now able to release the "CB-5028 STEREO LINK CABLE" using these small stereo plugs.
To downsize the plugs, it was necessary to review the structure of the soldered terminals connecting the cable and the plug. We adopted a structure that covers the entire cable and soldering part with resin, and made significant changes to the structure holding the cable. Since resin fills the space between terminals, it is effectively insulated. Also, because resin is sandwiched between the cap and the cable, it is highly resistant to deformation when the cable is pulled, ensuring good durability.

The newly developed plug cap used for the STEREO LINK CABLE has a length of 17mm. The cap length of the stereo plug used in the FREE THE TONE CB-6560 cable is 33mm, so it's about half the length. You can see how much it has been downsized. Additionally, by making the cap a pressed-on type, we have taken measures to prevent loosening of the cap.
We offer both straight and L-angle types of plugs. For areas where frequent insertion and removal are required, the straight plug, which is easy to insert and remove even though it is small, is recommended. The plug features FREE THE TONE’s unique wave-shaped groove, serving as an anti-slip feature. For tight spots inside pedal boards, the L-angle type is recommended.
