OVERDRIVELAND / ODL-1

OVERDRIVE

OVERDRIVELAND / ODL-1

Q: What are the main differences between the standard version and the custom shop version?
The custom shop version allows for continuous adjustment of the voltage from DC10V to 19V when selecting the VARI (internal voltage boost) option. In contrast, the standard version offers a choice between an external DC9V input or Int.PS (internal voltage boost at DC14.5V). Furthermore, custom modules designed for the custom shop version use different components than the standard version to respond more sensitively to input signals.
Q: When using the internal voltage boost, what type of adapter should be used for the connection?
Regardless of whether you are using the internal voltage boost or not, please make sure to use a DC9V adapter for powering the OVERDRIVELAND pedal.
Applying a voltage higher than this can lead to malfunction.
Q: Why do I need to use a power supply capable of delivering 200mA or more current when the current consumption is only 95mA?
Inside OVERDRIVELAND, there is a voltage boost circuit integrated. Immediately after powering on, when this boost circuit activates, there is a substantial surge of high current (inrush current) for a moment. Some power supplies have protective circuits that may activate when they detect this high current value, therefore, we recommend using a power supply capable of delivering 200mA or more current.
INTEGRATED GATE / IG-1N

NOISE REDUCTION & GATE

INTEGRATED GATE / IG-1N

What is the operating time with the battery of the IG-1N?
An alkaline battery will last for 15 hours or more continuously.
A manganese battery will lasts for 4 hours or more continuously.
* When the battery is exhausted, the LED will blink. We recommend to replace the battery as soon as it starts to flash.

FLIGHT TIME FT-1Y

FLIGHT TIME FT-1Y DIGITAL DELAY

Must I update the firmware in the order of release to step up the versions?
No. We create the latest firmware based on its previous version and therefore it contains corrections done in all of the preceding versions. So simply install the latest version.
Can I use the Flight Time with my amplifier’s send/return (effect loop)?
The Flight Time can receive signals up to +4 dBm but will distort if the level exceeds this limit. If your amplifier’s send/return circuit has a send level trim, then lower the send level in order not to distort the Flight Time. If you need to use the send/return of an amplifier whose send/return level does not support -10 dB or-20 dB, then additionally connect a mixer to adjust the level.
When do you use the Flight Time’s DRY ON/OFF switch?
The Flight Time’s DRY ON/OFF switch should be turned off (no original sound will be output) when you mix original and delay sounds using the amplifier’s send/return circuit or a mixer.
What is your recommendation for the MIDI interface for firmware updates?
Please use a stable data transmissionable MIDI / USB interface cable for connecting a MIDI device to a PC. We recommend the Roland UM-ONE MARK 2 MIDI interfaces. Refer to the release notes for firmware update procedures.

Is the Flight Time a stereo device?
No. It is a mono delay unit.
Can I switch presets by just one press of a footswitch?
No. It is impossible to switch presets instantly by using a footswitch on the Flight Time.
The Flight Time was designed to be more convenient when it is used with a routing controller such as the ARC-3 or ARC-53M. There are many modes available to recall programs on the Flight Time unit. Please refer to its manual.
After firmware update, I turned on the power to the Flight Time in Edit mode while holding down the Enter and Store switches. But it did not initialize itself but the screen indicated “SO OF”. Is this a failure?
Yes. The firmware has not been installed correctly. If installed correctly, such a problem will never occur. Please try to update the firmware again.

HTS (Holistic Tonal Solution) Circuit

HTS (Holistic Tonal Solution) Circuit

What is the HTS (Holistic Tonal Solution) Circuit?
The newly developed FREE THE TONE’s Holistic Tonal Solution (HTS) Circuit brings a brand new concept to effect pedals.
The HTS Circuit mainly handles the interface section of an effects unit (input and output). This circuit solves not only the problem with a True-Bypass circuit and weak points in a combination of a general buffer circuit and an electronic switch, but also totally and effectively manages the relationship between devices connected before and after the effects unit and the operation of the effects circuit implemented in the HTS Circuit.
The compatibility of pedals when they are connected together will be influenced by the signal level and the characteristics of the input and output impedance. Signal characteristics may change each time you switch effects units on some combinations of effects units using a true-bypass circuit. These changes in signal characteristics will have a drastic influence on the sound quality and/or sound image. You may have felt a fundamental difference in sound quality or a feeling that something just isn't right in the past. This is a major problem of effects units that is relatively unknown. The HTS Circuit consists of three separate circuits: Input Circuit, Noiseless Effect On/Off Circuit, and Output Driver Circuit.
The Input Circuit receives the signal properly according to the conditions of the signal source, eliminates noise from unnecessary frequency bands and then sends the pure guitar signal to the effect circuit. The FREE THE TONE effects units have a very low signal-to-noise ratio thanks to the HTS Circuit.
The processed signal is sent to the Noiseless Effect On/Off Circuit. This circuit transfers the guitar sound faithfully without any feeling of dullness or distortion that is often unique to electronic switching circuits, because no switching element, such as an FET, is used.
The processed or bypassed sound signal, selected by the Noiseless Effect On/Off Circuit, is sent to the Output Driver Circuit and then to any other equipment connected after the effector in the signal chain. Regardless of whether the effects unit is on or off, the signal output impedance remains fixed so that a stable signal is provided all the time. And when the effects unit is turned off, the HTS Circuit outputs a signal that remains true to the original natural guitar sound.
The effected sound and bypassed sound managed by the HTS Circuit will always have the same sound quality, which solves a problem that has plagued players for years.
